Amit
Wadhawan has been appointed as executive chef, Ista Hyderabad. Wadhawan
has been qualified and trained at the Oberoi hotels for seven years and
has worked for successful restaurants in Ireland for five years. He has
also worked with three Marriott properties in India and abroad.
Subhrajit
Bardhan has been appointed as the executive assistant manager at Ista,
Hyderabad. Prior to this assignment, he was the executive chef at Ista Hyderabad.
Bardhan was also the executive chef of Ananda in the Himalayas where he
was instrumental in developing Ananda Cuisine. He has 13 years of experience
in the hospitality industry, with notable expertise in all aspects of F&B,
costing, management control and reports.
Jones Lang LaSalle Meghraj
CEO
Vincent Lottefier assumes a new role as managing director, EMEA Emerging
Markets, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels from January 2009. Lottefier will remain
on the Board of Jones Lang LaSalle Meghraj to ensure continuity for key
client relationships and business development strategies. His move follows
almost 16 years with Jones Lang LaSalle in a career that has spanned six
countries; Belgium, Luxembourg, Australia, China, Hong Kong and India.
HVS, London
Tim Smith, MRICS has joined the London office
of HVS as director. Smith will be responsible for growing the valuation
side of the business within the UK and throughout Europe, the Middle East
and Africa. Smith is a chartered surveyor with 13 years experience in valuing
hotels and other leisure businesses. He recently headed the hotels team
at HLL Humberts Leisure.
Park Plaza Sukhumvit Bangkok
Marco Seiler has been appointed as the general
manager of Park Plaza Sukhumvit, Bangkok, the upper midscale, full service
hotel brand of Carlson Hotels Worldwide.
Seiler comes with a decade of industry experience
and takes up the post after six years with Thailand's Amari Hotels and
Resorts. His most recent position was general manager, Amari Nova Suites
Pattaya and Nova Platinum Pattaya, where he was responsible for the successful
opening of both properties. In his new role, Seiler will be in-charge
of overseeing all operational, sales and marketing activities, as well
as staff recruitment and training.
Hersha Hospitality Management
Hersha Hospitality Management has appointed Michael
W. Murray as chief operating officer. He will be responsible for all
of the company's operational functions at the corporate and property levels.
Murray, a 27-year hospitality veteran, has in-depth operations expertise
throughout the United States and Caribbean.
Cornell Center for Hospitality Research Publications
Lisa Klein Pearo has been named the editor
of Cornell Hospitality Reports, Cornell Hospitality Tools, and Industry
Perspectives: A White Paper Series from Cornell. She is also a visiting
assistant professor of marketing at the Cornell School of Hotel Administration.
With numerous publications in marketing and business journals, she has also
written several Harvard Business School cases. Pearo has earlier worked
in direct marketing and in management consulting, focusing on clients in
consumer goods and services and the media industry.
Orchard Hotel Singapore
Millennium and Copthorne has appointed Melvin
Lim as general manager of the Orchard Hotel Singapore. Lim will assume
responsibility for all aspects of Orchard Hotel's operations and spearhead
the development of its business in ensuring continued success for this 653-room
five-star hotel situated in the heart of the famous Orchard Road. Lim has
had 15 years of experience as general manager and senior sales and marketing
positions at several international luxury hotels and serviced residences
in Asia, including Hong Kong, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand and Myanmar.
He was most recently the general manager of M Hotel in Singapore.
Best Western
Lorievelle Valeriano has joined Best Western
from the world-renowned Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai where she was assistant
spa manager in the Assawan Spa & Health Club. Valeriano's responsibilities
there included embracing and promoting the Jumeirah philosophy and culture
which is noted for the high expectations that surround its 'legendary customer
service' concept with its emphasis on flawless spa processes coupled with
impeccable health standards and human resource compliance.
Conrad Bangkok
The Conrad Bangkok has appointed Criag Bonnor
as director of business development. Bonnor, an Australian national, has
been working with Conrad and Hilton brands for 13 years in Australia, New
Zealand and Thailand. He held the same position at the Hilton Auckland and
the Hilton Millennium Bangkok respectively, prior to joining the Conrad
Bangkok. With his new appointment, Bonnor takes on the responsibility of
implementing strategy and business goals of the hotel. He will oversee and
direct all activities of sales, marketing communications and public relations,
revenue management and reservations.
Island Shangri-La Hong Kong
The Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong, has appointed Don
Lau as its director of sales and marketing. Lau's responsibilities entail
managing the sales, events management, communications and reservations departments.
He will also provide a link between Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong and corporate
sales and marketing to ensure the implementation of corporate initiatives.
Prior to his current appointment, Lau held managerial
positions with the Marriott group from 2003 to September 2008. Lau is
a graduate of Boston University in the USA, and has more than 20 years
of experience in the hospitality industry
Away Tusita Chumphon
Astudo Hotel & Resort Management has appointed
Thanakorn Danthong as resort manager of the Away Tusita Chumphon.
Thanakorn will supervise the entire operation of Away Tusita Resort Chumphon.
He has a Bachelor's Degree from Bangkok University, majoring in tourism
and hotel management, and 15 years of experience in the hospitality industry.
