Shantigiri ushers in new standards
The Shantigiri School of Hotel Management approved by Government of Kerala
is all set to become a landmark institution in the hospitality field. Heralding
the arrival of a uniform standard in the hospitality education and training
sector, this residential hospitality training school boasts of facilities data
on par with the bigger catering school outside the state. The property is spread
over eight acres of land with a basic training kitchen, quantity training kitchen,
advanced training kitchen, training restaurant with over 60 covers lecture halls,
audio vision aids, computer lab, house keeping department with fully furnished
with A/C and non A/C single and double room and cottages, maintenance department
and front office labs.
The students training for the diploma in hotel management and catering technology
course, of a three year duration, receive hands-on training during the period
and at end of it, get industrial exposure training in approved and classified
star hotels. "There is a demand for good trained professionals in this
field as the hotels are upgrading their facilities and competing to give good
service. It is possible for us to bring out a new breed of professional into
the hospitality business, who will not just have the right skill but also the
right attitude", said Farook Usman, the founder principal of Shanthigiri
School of Hotel Management who has over four decades of experience in the field
of hospitality education.
Under his guidance the educational curriculum at Shanthigiri
has been oriented so as to provide skills in each particular section. Here care
is given to make the student understand and the complexity of cultural, sociological,
ethical and subjective issues of hospitality and select course on particular
subject ensures that students specialise in their chosen fields.
