Representative of more than 40 institutes, under the banner IDP Education Australia, recently visited the country to promote their educational institutes and interview interested Indian students.

“We are here to inform Indian students about our higher education system and facilities available in our country. Indian students are talented and we would love to see more Indian students in our universities,” said Henry Ledlie, director of IDP.

Prominent among the insitutes are University of Canberra, University of Western Sydney, James Cook University and Australian National University.

They are offering both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in marketing and business management, resort management, gastronomic, software technology, travel and tourism, fine arts and many other courses.

Currently around 21,000 Indian students are studying in Australia. According to an IDP estimate, Australia will soon have more than 80,000 students from India alone.

The representatives first visited New Delhi, after which they will move to Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. The current selection process is for admission into Februray-March 2006 session in Australia.

The IDP Education Australia is an independent body and is currently working in collaboration with Australian Trade Commission. At present it is operating in 54 countries.
