The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) is to set-up three-star hotels in Alappuzha and Kannur and is to upgrade Hotel Chaitram into a three-star hotel as part of its Rs 145 crore hotel expansion agenda of which Rs 40 crore will be spent in the areas of Alappuzha, Kannur and Kovalam.

Trident Hilton To Go Five-Star
Trident Hilton hotels, that were not classified by Department of Tourism but positioned as first class international brand in India, have recently applied for classification of these hotels. While few of the properties have already received accreditation, the rest are awaiting government’s reply.

HACCP Awarded To ITC Hotel Maurya Sheraton And Towers, New Delhi
After obtaining two environmental standards that is the ISO 14001 International Standards certificate in 1996 and the IH&RA Environmental Award in 2000, in addition to the British Safety Council 'Sword of Honour' for three consecutive years from 1997-99, The ITC Hotel Maurya Sheraton and Towers, New Delhi was recently awarded the HACCP certification in February 2005
