With technology playing a major role in the growth
experienced by the hospitality industry, hotels are looking at incorporating
the latest and the best products, equipment and other facilities and services
in their hotels particularly those targeting the corporate/MICE segment. In
fact, as one of the worlds fastest growing economies with an edge in information
technology, IT-enabled services and other technical services, India has become
a vibrant marketplace for audiovisual (AV) presentations solutions. And in an
attempt to present the latest in audiovisual products, equipment, technology
and services InfoCommAsia Pte Ltd (IAPL) is holding InfoComm Asia 2003 at Suntec

A premier AV communications show, it has been a major
launch pad for leading industry players to introduce their latest technologies
and products to Asia and Oceania since 1995. Organised by IAPL and sponsored
by the International Communications Industries Association Inc (ICIA), the 2003
exhibition will be the fifth in the series.
Speaking about the significance of this event for the
Indian businessmen in general and hospitality industry in particular, Dr Nat
Wong, managing director of IAPL, said, It will be of great interest to
Indian entrepreneurs in view of strong demand for such solutions from across
all sectors, ranging from business, government, education, exhibitions and conventions
to entertainment. The audiovisual industry is rapidly growing in India. A surge
in demand for AV and related products and services is evident as the country
develops and modernises. Large-scale developments such as new hotels and convention
centres, educational institutes and leisure complexes, and commercial buildings
have triggered demand for advanced audiovisual equipment.
On display at InfoComm Asia will be an extensive array
of cutting-edge solutions and products from some 100 international companies.
Major brand names include Canon, Christie Digital, Creston, Draper, Epson, Extron,
Hitachi, Infocus, Jupiter, Kramer, NEC, Pioneer, The Screenworks, Vega and WolfVision.
Creating a buzz on the showfoor will be wireless and
network projectors, a 10000 ANSI Lumens large format projector, as well as projectors
that defy the conventional distance. Inflatable outdoor screens, very thin video
cubes, switcher with soft-edged multi-image display capabilities, streaming
technology using PDA streaming of contents to projector, jackpot machine plasma
display, portable visualisers, LCD name tags and other new model rollouts are
some of other product highlights to look out for.
For the first time, a conference will be held in conjunction
with the exhibition. Complementing the showcase will be an extensive educational
programme. It includes the annual Asian Institute for Professional Development
(IPD) for AV professionals organised by the InfoComm Academy, 16 workshops by
experts from the US and Asia and two networking seminars by Gary Kayye, ICIA
Educator of the Year. The educational programme is organised in collaboration
with ICIA.
A dedicated showcase for audio, video, projection,
presentation, multimedia, interactive conferencing, systems integration and
imaging, the event is expected to attract some 1,000 trade visitors.
