DIHBM Gets ISO 9001:2000 Certification,
Accreditation From Middlesex University
EH&C Staff - Pune
Pune-based DINA Institute of Hotel
& Business Management (DIHBM) is now an ISO certified
institute. Besides, it has also got itself accredited to the
Middlesex University, United Kingdom.
Informing
Express Hotelier & Caterer about the new development,
Ajit Oberoi of DIHBM, said, As an autonomous hospitality
education institute, DIHBM is the first of its kind to have
been awarded the ISO 9001:2000 certification by Det Norske
Veritas (DNV), the leading ISO certification body. Thats
not all - on account of its commitment in delivering quality
education consistently, the institute picked up yet another
commendation by way of the Middlesex University, UK, offering
its highly coveted accreditation.
Middlesex University has more than
3,000 international students from over 100 countries. Under
the agreement, students successfully completing the 18-months
(two-and-half year) diploma programme from DIHBM, would be
eligible to enroll for the final year top-up programme of
the universitys three-years B A (Hons) in Hospitality
Management, at London itself. This programme is also accredited
by The Dutch Delta Business School (DDBS) of Holland, for
its EURO-BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) Programme.
A
unique feature about our courses is that we offer an extensive
14-months on-the-job training (eight months for PG courses)
- compared to about four to five months offered by other institutes
across the country - at leading hotels of the city,
said Oberoi.
Over the years, the institute has
earned a reputation for delivering international quality programmes.
DIHBM today offers a vast range of courses starting from students
who have passed their 12th standard to courses for graduates
and even for MBA/PGDM students and working hospitality professionals.
With admissions open for the
current year for batches starting from July, the institute
will see a further of about 150 students being groomed in
different streams of hotel/hospitality operations. Apart from
technical skills, the institute is also committed to providing
communication skills, personality development and leadership
training to enable these youngsters to take on challenging
opportunities in an exciting hospitality industry, said
Inderjot Kaur Oberoi of DIHBM.
The
institute and its faculty also enjoy memberships of both academic
institutions and trade bodies like Hotel & Catering International
Management Association (HCIMA), UK; Federation of Hotel &
Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI), Hotel & Restaurant
Association of Western India (HRA-WI) and the Indian Society
for Training & Development (ISTD).
We believe that good faculty
and curriculum are both crucial ingredients in any good training
programme, as is the methodology of delivery. And the proof
of our quality lies in the fact that in the last six years,
all the students who have passed out from our institute are
well-placed in the industry, confirmed Oberoi.

For the past three years,
DIHBM has been affiliated to the Educational Institute
of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (EI-AH&LA).
In fact, DIHBM is the only institute in Pune and one
of the few in the country, which offers a full-fledged
diploma programme in international hotel management,
recognised in over 100 countries, for students who have
passed their 12th standard (HSC) and also under graduates.
Besides this, the institute
also offers a two-years post graduate diploma in hotel
and business administration, equivalent to a MBA (hospitality).
Both these courses have a double-edge, whereby, not
only do successful students earn themselves a DINA diploma,
but also the EI-AH&LA diploma.
The institute also offers specialised diploma courses
in areas like food and beverage management, food production,
rooms division management, front office and housekeeping
management.
