Presidency College Conducts GRE Master Mind 2002

EH&C Staff - Bangalore

Realising the need to foster a proactive interaction between hospitality professionals and the student fraternity, Bangalore-based Presidency College of Hotel Management recently organised an unique quiz competition christened GRE (Guest Relations Executives) Mastermind Quiz Contest 2002.

The competition which was open only to guest relations executives of premier hotels in Bangalore was sponsored by Royal Orchid Park Plaza and Hotel Harsha Park Inn. The event evinced wonderful response from the contestants with more than 30 participants from over 10 hotels vying with each other to win the coveted prize.

Says S Dasgupta, head of the department, hotel management department, Presidency College, “The aim was to bring together hotels in Bangalore on a common platform of healthy rivalry. It is believed such events would broaden the horizons of the students and expose them to the practical aspects of the industry. Also, it would help to raise the standard of quality of professionalism and service.”

“The questions were based on information that guests normally seek from hotel staff. The event was a first of its kind in Bangalore and would help create an association of hotel professionals who would be dedicated to improving standards of the industry. Towards this end, the college also plans to hold a seminar in February-March 2003,” Dasgupta added.

Windsor Manor & Sheraton Towers was the overall winner. Other prize winners were Le Meridian and St Mark’s Hotel. Other participants included the Oberois, Leela Palace, Taj Residency, Central Park, Atria, Royal Orchid Park Plaza and Harsha Park Inn.
