Cirkus Cirkus - Brand New Act In Restaurant Business

Achal Dhruva - Mumbai

Billed as ‘celebration of life’ Cirkus Cirkus located at the atrium of Lotus Suites is not only the city’s largest multi-activity restro-discotheque but a never seen before concept. Sprawling over 7,000 square feet and a capacity to cater to over 2,000 people, Cirkus Cirkus is an unique experience in dining and entertainment.

Speaking to Express Hotelier & Caterer about the concept, Vithal Kamat, also the master mind behind the concept, said, “It was time to create a destination, not just another restaurant. It’s a totally new concept for the entire family including time and space for grandparents to interact with their grandchildren and stressed out corporates.” The other unique feature of the outlet is its location where in all the 200 rooms of the apartment hotel offer a view of the action at Cirkus Cirkus.

On the cuisine front, while the restaurant will feature continental, Indian and Oriental cuisine, emphasis will be on live interactive kitchen. According to Vivek Pathiyan, vice-president and general manager operations, The Orchid-An Ecotel and Lotus Suites, “Besides the live interactive kitchen, there would be a counter featuring cuisine from different region every week. He also informed that flair bartenders and dancing waiters will add to the entertainment and dining experience.”

Talking about the target clientele for the outlet, Kamat elucidated that Cirkus Cirkus is designed for people of all age groups. It houses a swimming pool in the centre and a glass dance floor over it with acrobats performing trapeze acts. This apart, it features all around spilt-level restaurants, which include quiet dining areas, display kitchens, special level for private parties, four bars and balcony level for performance by live bands.

Open 24 hours, seven days a week, the outlet will change character every few hours operating as a breakfast lounge, converting into a space for grandparents and grandchildren, cater to corporates at lunch time, a family outing place in the evenings and a nightclub after 10.30 pm. Right through the day there is some form of live entertainment like performance by clowns during 10.00 am to 1.00 pm trapeze acts during lunch and dinner, live band playing nostalgic songs during the evening and the DJ rocking the house after 10.30 pm.
