Manufacture A Wide Range Of Mattresses Made Of Coir, Steel Springs’

Singh Khurana, director, Coirfoam (I) Pvt Ltd, in conversation with
Reema Sisodia, speaks about the company and products offered for
the hospitality industry. Excerpts
Could
you give us a brief profile of your company and nature of its work?
Coirfoam (I) Pvt Ltd (CIPL) came into existence in 1977 by taking
over the Rubberised Coir Unit set up at Faridabad, which had already
exchanged two hands, without making much headway. At present the
business is looked after jointly by Inderjit Singh Khurana and Raj
Khurana in association with J P Agarwal and Pradeep Agarwal, who
were actually responsible for bringing in the technology from Austria
and floated this company and launched the CORFOM brand name in India.
Its
understood that Coirfoam has implemented unique practices to authenticate
its products in the market, could you elaborate on the same?
The company has done quite a bit in the area of consumer protection.
In 1985, we introduced a card system called the Khazana card
which was attached to each mattress to identify the original CORFOM
product. This method was adopted with a view to safeguard our customers
interests. Each card is punctiliously signed by a senior executive
and is a unique system in itself. Besides, CORFOM was the first
brand to have used the scratch card which is used by
most companies in the present times. The scratch card system itself
was invented by the companys general manager (commercial)
in 1992. This helped majorly in ensuring the authenticity of our
product range.
What
would you consider as the key competency of your company?
The key competency of CIPL is the management of the company. They
introduced the rubberised coir technology into India, way back in
1964 which makes us pioneers in the field. As result of this we
have developed in-depth understanding of the mattress technology.
Apart from this, we manufacture the widest range of mattresses made
of coir, steel springs and soon, we propose to launch foam products
also.
What
are the various products offered by your company?
Our product range comprises bed mattresses of various types, spring
bed frames, pillows, bath mats, sofa-cushions, window and central
air-conditioning filters, and carpet underlays amongst others.
What
is the market spread of your products? Who is your target segment?
We presently market our products in north of India only. Our products
are in use by hotels, hospitals, guest houses and resorts. We cater
to almost all market segments.
Have you launched any new products in the Indian market?
Besides launching spring mattresses in technical association with
ICAM Italy last year, we have added to its range pocketed
spring mattresses and a new model called sona super
deluxe this year to meet the necessity of a soft cozy and
cushion mattress.
