SSTEEL
Is The New Bar At Hotel Ashok
Anindita
Chattopadhyay - New Delhi
The
Garden Bar at Ashok Hotel, which fell into oblivion, re-emerged
in its new avtaar as SSTEEL at a gala gathering held recently. Unveiled
in the presence of Ashwani Lohani, the CMD, ITDC and Delhis
glitterati, the bar will be managed on a profit-sharing basis by
Broadway Enterprises, which owns the Broadway Hotel - one of the
first deluxe hotels in Kashmir.
Broadway
in association with the Pahalgam Group of Hotels won the bid early
this year to manage three restaurants at Hotel Ashok on a profit-sharing
basis under the flagship company Turkinz. The group will soon give
Delhites a chance to relish exotic Lebanese cuisine and experience
exquisite Kashmiri cuisine in the original, rich flavour of the
valley, with the opening of two other joints Mashrabya and Kashmir
Club at Hotel Ashok.
Arjun
Amla, director, Broadway Enterprises, commenting on the unique offerings
at SSTEEL said, It will be Delhis own bar with a different
ambience. A place that will be truly a connoisseur's delight offering
the widest choice of spirits and a blend of abstract, contemporary
and futuristic music. Service will be our key differentiating factor
with all offerings at very affordable prices.
Talking
about the decor he further added, With an eye on a warehouse
effect, the bar has been given an appearance of being positioned
in an alley between two buildings. SSTEEL has an old warehouse look,
complete with a high ceiling, charred brick work, steel vinyl walls,
steel containers, street floodlights, high beams, steel girders
and columns. Further, with very little effort due to its long rectangular
space allocation, the place will lend itself to different kinds
of launches and musical events, theme nights, fashion shows, etc.
SSTEEL
has a well-appointed bar offering some costly top-shelf Scotches
and very expensive champagne. It boasts of the largest variety of
intoxicants available at the first single piece longest bar counter
Delhi has. This 2,500 square feet bar has a capacity to serve over
300 people at a time. It is also the first bar to have an exclusive
beer counter on the left side of the main bar.
To
compliment the drinks, there is an Oriental-flavoured snacks menu
to begin with, to be followed by a rotational menu. There is a wooden
dance floor with live music 365 nights a year.
